Sure, we all know the story Dorothy and her dog, Toto, taking on the adventure of seeking out the Wizard with her new found pals, Tin Man, Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion. But what happened before Dorothy dropped in? The musical, Wicked, guides us through that story beginning with Elphaba and Glinda, two schoolmates and enemies destined to be friends. When Elphaba’s powers are recognized, she is asked to meet the Wizard, her hero; although, this Wizard supports the anti-Animal movements. Elphaba decides she must take a stand on her beliefs whether she has support or not. This tirade for justice earns her the incorrect nickname, the Wicked Witch of the West. Glinda, with support from political powers, takes on the task of Glinda the Good Witch. Elphaba's sister, adorned in ruby red slippers, through selfishness becomes the Witch of the East. A number of characters transform into their more famous monickers, Scarecrow and Tin Man. With songs like “No One Mourns the Wicked” and “Defying Gravity”, you will not be disappointed. Don your witch hat and get tickets to a Wicked performance.
