The Amazin’ Mets, Kings of Queens, the Metropolitans, the Amazin’s, Miracle Mets--no matter their nickname, this Major League baseball team has swung its way into America’s heart. The New York Mets, named after New York City Metropolitan, play in the borough of Queens competing in the East division of the National League. The team plays at Shea Stadium but will play at the new Citi Field in 2009. They continue to live on the tradition of wins including two World Series titles, four league pennants, five division titles and two wild card wins. Using the New York City colors of blue and orange, this team attracts a large fanbase in their metropolis and large names to wear their uniform including Darryl Strawberry, Howard Johnson, Bobby Bonilla, Pedro Martinez, Nolan Ryan, Johan Santana, Tom Seaver, Jose Reyes and Willie Mays. One of the most exciting moments in baseball and New York is remembered as the Subway Series: where the World Series win was up to New York City, the borough of Queens versus the borough of the Bronx where the Yankees play. Catch a game with the Mets where “it ain’t over till it’s over”!
