Eric Clapton has accomplished worldwide fame with his impressive guitar abilities and his number of musical groups. He began in the Yardbirds achieving success with songs For Your Love and Who Do You Love. He worked with John Mayall and the Bluesbeakers and then the band, Cream, famous for the songs, Sunshine of Your Love and Spoonful. With the band, Blind Faith, Eric acquired fame for the song, Do What You Like; another collaboration called Delaney and Bonnie and Friends sang the hit song, After Midnight. The last group Eric worked with, Derek and Dominos, recorded of the songs Eric is most famous for--Layla. Eric Clapton acquired fame through each of these bands for his impressive work with the guitar. Slowhand, his nickname, was picked up during concerts where the audience would slow clap as he changed his own guitar strings on stage.
As a solo artist, Eric Clapton continued with chart-topping songs including Cocaine, I Shot the Sheriff, Wonderful Tonight, Tears in Heaven, Change the World, Lay Down Sally and My Father’s Eyes.
