An A sits on the foothills overlooking the Colorado State football stadium, Sonny Lubbock Field at Hughes Stadium. The A stands for Aggies, a previous mascot, and is lit every Homecoming to symbolize the thousands of students returning for the alumni football game. Colorado State Rams uphold many traditions outside of this one within the football program such as the rivalry games played every year including the Ram-Falcon trophy against Air Force, Border War against Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain Showdown versus the in-state rival Colorado.
