Their instruments range from turned over and stripped pianos to PVC pipes. Their costumes are simple and black. Their faces are blue, and their heads are bald. Blue Man Group began with Phil Stanton, Chris Wink and Matt Goldman performing on the streets of Manhattan or in comedy clubs. The shows involved odd props, percussion from rock music and lots of paper. Although their show has kept these things as constants, they added a stage, sophisticated lighting and audience participation. In fact, some audience members are handed a poncho in protection form food, paint and other substances sprayed and ejected from stage. The show entertains but also provokes thought in audience members concentrating on themes of science, information overload, naivety and being an outsider. Don’t miss this chance to see Blue Man Group live.
